About Us
Learn more about Ruhunu National College of Education.
Our History
Ruhunu National College of Education was established in the year 2000 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Richard Pathirana. Located in Kuruduwatta, Galle (approximately 15 km from Galle city on the Galle-Udugama main road, near the Pinnaduwa entrance of the Southern Expressway), our institution sits on a beautiful 25.6-acre campus.
The college began with programs in Primary Education, Home Economics, and Physical Education. The first batch of student teachers was registered on May 15, 2000, with Ms. P.L. Kaluarachchi serving as the first Principal.
Over the years, we have grown into a premier teacher education institution in the Southern Province, committed to producing skilled and dedicated educators for the nation.
